ONLINE NEWSPAPER

Online journalism is the reporting of facts when produced and distributed via the internet.

It is an online version of newspaper, either as a stand-alone publication or as the online version of a printed periodical.

The first newspaper to publish regularly on the web was known as the Palo Alto in January 1994 in California.

Online newspaper does not have any hard copy connections but is produced in a soft copy on the internet.

They present breaking news in a more timely manner.

Examples of online newspapers in Kenya are;
The star,
The Daily Nation,
Taifa Leo,
Kenya Times.

Advantages of online newspaper
1. Extremely fast news.
2. Interactive news.

Disadvantages of online newspaper
1. Not accessible in some parts of the world.
2. Difficult to navigate the internet.

Laikipia senators Godfrey Gitahi Kariuki, also known as GG Kariuki is dead. He passed on yesterday, Thursday night at Nairobi Hospital at the age of 79. Zeynab Wandati wins the A.H Boerman Award

Zeynab Wandati is a science journalist who specializes in agriculture and climate changes in the Nation Media Group. She is also a board member of Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA), an association of science journalists and communications in East Africa. She was announced as a winner of the A. H Boerman Award and she is the second African to win the award after the late renowned journalist Mohamed Amin. She was congratulated by Salim Amin, a photographer who is the son of the late Mohamed Amin. The award consists of a medal and cash prize of $10,000 which is equivalent to 1 million.
